I found in the Historical And Genealogical Collections of Dooly County, Georgia Volume I
Complied And Edited By Nora Powell & Watts Powell the following:
page 277
CARTER, David T. d. Dooly Co. abt. 1866, wife Frances M.
Children: Sarah L., David G. and James W.
All children over 14 in 1872. The children of David T. Carter were grandchildren of David
Carter and his wife, Lucy of Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Widow of David T. Carter married second a Mitchell.
CARTER, James W., died Dooly Co. as all real property was located in Schley County the
adm. on the estate was moved there.
Is anyone researching this Carter family? What was Frances M.'s maiden name? Does
anyone know what Mitchell she married?
I found marriage records on
ancestry.com where a Francis M. Mitchell married a Frances M.
Carter on 10 April 1861 in Dooly Co., GA.
On the 1880 Tallapoosa County, AL Census I found the following:
1880 Tallapoosa County, Alabama Census Hackneyville Beat 3 9 - 10 Jun 1880
page 14 #116/118

Is this the same Frances M? What connection does Josephus "Joseph" Carter have
to David Carter and Lucy?
I found marriage records in a Tallapoosa Co., AL Marriage book where Josephus W. Carter
married Frances E. Ross 1 Nov 1849, Daniel D. Tichenor, M. G.
So many questions so very few answers.
I would love to correspond with anyone of these families.
Thanks,
