DESCENDANTS OF CYRUS HARRISON CARTER
CYRUS HARRISON CARTER was born about 1812, in Georgia and died 1875-1880.
He may have spelled his name as Syras or Cyras. He married MARTHA YATES
April 13, 1835 in Fayette Country Georgia, the daughter of ELI and KATHERINE
YATES of Georgia. Martha died June 04, 1905, in Texas, county unknown.
Cyrus Harrison and Martha Carter had eight children born 1838-1851. The
1850 Potomac County Mississippi documents the following information:
Carter, Cyras H. age 38 Born in Georgia
Carter, Martha age 36 Born in Georgia
Carter, Eli age 11 Born in Alabama
Carter, Matilda age 10 Born in Alabama
Carter, Joseph age 8 Born in Alabama
Carter, Mary age 6 Born in Georgia
Carter, Martha age 2 Born in Georgia
Places where Cyrus Harrison Carter resided include Georgia, Randolph County
Alabama, Potomac County Mississippi, Texas, and Choctaw Territory Oklahoma.
Cyrus Harrison Carter is listed in the Travis County Texas Voter
Registration, 1867-1869.
Their son, ELI THOMAS CARTER, was born about 1839 and married SUSAN, her
maiden name is unknown. Eli and Susan's marriage date and place of marriage
is unknown. The 1860 Sebastian County Arkansas documents:
Eli Carter age 23 Born in Georgia
Susan Carter age 16 Born in Georgia
James Carter age 2 Born in Arkansas
(names of Eli's brothers and sisters also listed in his household)
Eli was still in Arkansas when the War Between The States erupted and he
enlisted in the 34th Arkansas Infantry in 1862. After the war, Eli came to
Texas and in 1867 signed the U.S. Loyalty Oath in Travis County Texas.
Eli and Susan's son JAMES BRUCE CARTER , my great-grandfather, was born 1858
in Arkansas. James was two years old in the 1860 Sebastian County Arkansas
census. James Bruce Carter married Julia Ann Boatright in Travis County
Texas in 1877. Julia was the daughter of John L. and Rebecca Cole
Boatright. Through her Boatright family, Julia is a descendant of Stephen
Austin's Old Three Hundred, her family enumerated in the first fifteen
families to colonize Texas.
James Bruce Carter and Julia Ann Boatright Carter had nine children:
Louella Carter, born December 10, 1878, died February 1916 in Travis County
Texas.

Oda Monroe Carter, my grandfather, was born July 16, 1884 in Bastrop County
Texas, died January 27, 1965 in Dallas, Texas.

Texas, died April 03, 1974 in Post, Garza County Texas.
Edna Carter, (twin) born February 10, 1890 in Diaville, Travis County Texas.
Ida Elizabeth Carter, born December 07, 1892 in Texas, died May 28, 1959 in
Greenville, Hunt County Texas.
Jacob Jake Carter, born November 1895, died in Abilene, Texas.
Manuel Manny Carter, born March 1897.
OLD MONROE CARTER married MINNIE MAUDE PRESLEY on December 07, 1902, Indian
Gap, Hamilton County Texas. Minnie was the daughter of William and Martha
Suggs Presley. Their seven children:

January 1992.

My father, WALLACE CARTER married JEWELL SOPHRONIA BROWNLOW June 01, 1927 in
Greenville, Hunt County Texas. Both are deceased. Their children are:
Dorothy Geneva Carter, born November 12, 1938 in Point, Rains County Texas.
Leland Carter, born March 13, 1936 in Tyler, Smith County Texas
