I have run into a "brick wall" with Wilson Carter. Maybe someone is also
researching
him and we can exchange info.
This is what I know:
Wilson Carter - b.ca.1821 - probably AL (Don't know his parents)
m-12-24-1843 (1) Elizabeth Fonville Bibb Co., AL
(Her father-William Fonville Her mother-Sarah Fancher)
He was 22 and she was 15 when married; they had a son Leonida Carter born
prior to December 1843.
m-ca.1849/1850 (2) Mary _____ in MS
(she was b-ca.1831 MS)
They had a son-Joseph Carter born ca.1850 in MS.
According to 1850 Winston Co., MS Census.
I am assuming Mary and Wilson married prior to their son's birth; however, I do not
know when Elizabeth died. Wilson was appointed guardian of Leonida in 1852.
At this time he was in Starkville.
Leonida/Leonidas is mentioned in his great-grandfather's (Richard Fancher) will
as a child of Elizabeth Carter.
Richard J J H Fonville married in 1843 to Thursa/Thiresa Carter - was she a relative
to Wilson?
