REGARDING JAMES CARTER. THIS IS MY JAMES' FAMILY. CAN ANYONE CONNECT?
My 3rd ggf, Cyrus Harrison Carter was born 1812 in Georgia; died Abt. 1880
in Texas. He married Martha Yates 13 April 1835 in Fayette County Georgia.
She was born 1815, and died 04 June 1905 in Texas. She was the daughter of
Eli & Katherine Yates.
The children of Cyrus and Martha Yates Carter were:
Eli Thomas b. 1838 in Alabama (Great-great-grandfather)
Matilada
Joseph
Mary
Rebecca
Martha
Cornelia (married John Thomas Morgan)
William
Cyrus & Martha lived in Georgia, Randolph County Alabama, Potomac County
Mississippi, and Choctaw Territory Oklahoma.
Their son, Eli Thomas Carter, my 2nd ggf, married Susan, maiden name
unknown.
Eli and Susan's son was JAMES BRUCE CARTER born 1858 in Arkansas. James was
two years old in the 1860 Sebastian County Arkansas census.
James' father, Eli, was still in Arkansas when the War Between The States
erupted, he enlisted in the 34th Arkansas Infantry in 1862.
Sometime after the war, Eli came to Texas and in 1867 signed the Loyalty
Oath to The United States in Travis County. Another researcher found the
oath documentation, made notes, but does not have a copy of the source
document.
Eli's son, James Bruce Carter married Julia Ann Boatright in Travis County
Texas in 1877. Julia is a descendant of Stephen Austin's Old Three Hundred,
her family being in the first fifteen families to colonize Texas. THIS
CARTER-BOATRIGHT LINE IS FAMOUS IN TEXAS HISTORY!
If you have any information, please contact me. I wish I had more
information to share but this is absolutely everything I know about my
Carter family prior to 1877

Subject: Re: [CARTER] Jimmerson Cemetery, Navarro County
Have you found the cemetery on a map? If it is in the adjoining county to
his children, how does the location compare to the area where his known
family lived? County lines don't always mean much.
I suppose from the name that the cemetery was a family site. Have you found
a connection with a Jimmerson family? Could one of his children have
married a Jimmerson, or did he have a second wife who was related to them?
Do you know where the Jimmersons lived before Texas, and if so does it
match?

I'm searching for my 3rd grandfather, James Carter, born around 1819 in GA.
He was last heard of living in 1850 Ouachita Parish Louisiana. His children
were in Texas on the 1870 McLennan County census. But can't find out what
happened to him.
