I don't have a middle initial for the James Carter I'm looking for.
His parents:
George W Carter, born around 1780 in Maryland
Ruth born in North Carolina
Sons and daughter known to me:
- James born around 1819 in GA (don't know the county)
- Joseph C born around 1821 in Clarke County Alabama
- Ruth b around 1830 in Alabama (she married Presley Smith 1849 in Ouachita
Parish. Presley was born 1827 in Alabama)
The above family is living near each other on the 1850 Ouachita Parish,
Louisiana census
I can't find any of them on the 1860 census. I believe there are a lot of
1860 records missing or lost due to the Civil War.
James' children were born in the 1850's. They are found on the 1870
McLennan County TX as older teenagers, living with a Thomas Malone family.
Mr Malone was from Ouachita Parish LA.
I don't know if James Carter died in Louisiana or if he moved to Texas
sometime in the 1860's. The birth year of the James Carter in Jimmerson
Cemetery in what interests me. I haven't found him on census records yet,
Thanks for your reply,
Sandra Carter Van Wyk

I am sorry. Navarro county is in Texas. Some neighboring counties are
Hill, Bosque, McLennan, Freestone, Limestone.
I'm searching for my 3rd grandfather, James Carter, born around 1819 in
GA.
He was last heard of living in 1850 Ouachita Parish Louisiana. His
children
were in Texas on the 1870 McLennan County census. But can't find
out what
happened to him.
Thanks,
