in Haywood Co, NC 1820 until his death after the 1850 census, at which time
he was eighty-one years old.
The Haywood County NC 1840 census indicates the presence of a total of
16 persons in William Carter's household so the gedcom compiler "finds" 16
children to assign to him, including Russell B. Carter and Lucinda Carter;
notwithstanding the probability that there were spouses and children of his
children in his household in 1840. The 1830 census lists only 5 persons in
his household. William Carter was 71 years old in 1840. Children "assigned"

To my knowledge, no Carters in the Dale, Coffee County, AL Carter
families used such names.
They used names like: Allen, Hardy, Eliza, Sally, Mary, Nancy, Thomas,
Polly, etc.
