Hello list,
Boy, I tell you, this is one busy list...I have been browsing the archives literally
all day and still haven't finished!!
I guess I'll just throw my questions right out since I haven't seen anything
thus far...
My 6g grandmother was Selah CARTER b abt 179? MS married Charles C. CAMPBELL Sept. 1,
1813 Natchez, Adams CO. MS..
Their children:
Elon (m)
Malathiel (m)
Pamelia (f)
Huldah (f)
Fountain (m)
George W. (m) my line
Vinson CARTER is believed to be the father of Selah... he died 1839... He is on the
1820 Franklin Co census listed as over 45. He was in MS for quite some time before the
first state census.. court records indicate that he began his quest for a land grant of
640 acres by 1803... he stated that he began cultivating the land the day the Spanish
Troops evacuated.
In his will he lists Charles C. CAMPBELL executor.
Their are 3 more CARTER families living all together,,,
James CARTER over 45 in 1820 (next door to Vinson)
Joseph CARTER 26-45 ( next door to James)
William K CARTER 26-45 ( 8 dwellings from Vinson)
Is there anyone out there who can connect with this line, or does anyone have any
suggestions for further research??? Vinson is my brick wall, he just seems to appear in
MS from no-where!!!
Thanks for any help,
Sharla Linex
