Pvt. Joseph W. Carter is buried in Camp Moore Confederate Cemetery in Tangipahoa Parish,
Louisiana. He died Oct 11, 1861. He was with Company C, 16th Louisiana Infantry. This
company was made up of those from Springfield Louisiana area.
I don't have any information on this Joseph W. Carter. I doubt that he saw action in
the Civil War as there was an epidemic at the Camp during training and he died Oct, 1861.
Do you have this Joseph W. Carter in your family.

was b abt 1799 and who married COL. WILLIAM COAKLEY on January 21 ,1817 in
Old Rappahannock, Essex Co., VA

I have been told that MARGARET'S father was GEORGE CARTER and that he was
said to be a carpenter. His wife was a MISS SMITH.
