Hi,
Hmm. I'm not for sure. My Browns came from North Carolina to Nail, Arkansas and
around Jasper which is right there on the country roads connecting to Belafonte. I descend
from Hiram King Brown who was married to Sophia Owensby. His father and mother were George
Washington Brown and his wife Francis (Fannie) King. My greatgreat, etc-grandmother was
Lear Ellen Grace Brown who married William Berger Baker and their marriage license is on
file at Jasper. They were married around 1876 or so. Their daughter, Mary Ellen Baker was
married to Andrew Jackson Chambers. When William Baker died, Grace remarried to a Mr.
Holland and they are buried near Jasper along the highway at their old homeplace. My
Carter line, I think, came out of Missippi to Yell County, Arkansas. Nancy Carter was the
mother of my Martha Carter who married James Herring. I don't know who Nancy's
husband was or what her maiden name was. None of the other researchers seem to know,
either.
We haven't been able to trace either the Brown or Carter line, actually. But, some
of the folks lived in Cherokee and Lumpkin Counties, Georgia. And some went into
Missouri.
What do you think,
Polly

My Carters lived in Georgia and moved towards Arkansas where the
children listed below were born. I'm not sure which part as I am
descended from Alma (who was born in West, Texas). I do know that Alma
married her husband (Henry Ray) in Valley Springs, Arkansas in 1915
which is in Northwest Arkansas.
As far as the Brown line, James Brown was born in Little Rock, Arkansas
and died in Bellefonte, Arkansas. I have his father being born in
Indiana (William Brown b about 1840) and his mother's name is Margaret
(b in Alabama).
Any possible connections?
Thanks,
Angela

I just happen to have Brown and Carters in ARkansas and from Georgia
and North Carolina on the way there. Where were yours? Mine were in north Arkansas:
Newton, Pope and Yell and Johnson mostly. My Carters came out of Mississippi to Yell and
all the same counties as the Brown family. Thanks, Polly

It has been a few years since I have done some Genealogy research and
thought I would try again.
I am descended from James C. Brown (b 1865 in AR, d in AR) and Georgia
Ann Carter (b 1867 in Georgia, d 1966 in OK). They had the following
children:
William K. Brown (b 1888 in AR)
Alice E. Brown (b 1890 in AR)
Alma Agnes Brown (b 1896 in TX)
Albert S. Jr. Brown (b 1902 in AR)
James C. Brown (b 1907 in AR)
I think but am not completely certain that Georgia's parents are George
W. Carter (b about 1837) and Matilda.
Are there any connections to this family?
Thanks,
Angela Miller
