I have recently delved into some early Florida records working on another
line, and found a relationship of some sort between my ancestor and the
Carter's of early Florida. If anyone is descended from this group, I would
like to correspond.
1. Thomas Carter in Florida before 1790 and living in Nassau Co on the St.
Mary's.
2. Isaac Carter, son of Thomas, begins the process of obtaining a Spanish
land grant in 1790 for adjoining property to his father in Nassau Co. In
1809, Isaac purchases land formerly held by one Burnet, and previous one
Summerall on Trout Creek, Duval.. By 1830, Isaac is found age 60-70, Tampa
Bay area, Alachua Co., FL
3. John Carter, son of Isaac, is deeded the land on Trout Creek, Duval in
1815 by his father on event of his marriage - John died in 1824, leaving 3
children, William, Caleb, and Elizabeth. Isaac Carter overseeing the
estate.
4. William Carter, son of John. In 1828, William is in control of the
property on Trout Creek. He is listed 1830 Duval Co., FL.
