I have an Albert CARTER, but not any wife or children for him. He was born,
and died in Lawrence County, Indiana 1889-1974. His parents were William
Thomas and Rebecca Jane (Mundy) CARTER.

Subject: [CARTER] Albert Carter
Hello,
I am looking for an Albert Carter who brought back a ( German ?) war
bride named Marie/ Mary/ or name similar and I think but not positive
moved to
California in the 1940s. I know that Albert Carters parents where
Freeman/Firman
Preston Carter and Mary (Susan ?) (Hizer?) Mr. Carter abandoned Albert's
mother and his mother could not care for the children, The kids went to
children's
services, then the family all got back together and they had another
child,
split again. a year or so they got back together and split again the
children
where back with children's services but this time Albert's mom was
expecting
another child (my grandmother) Albert's mother went to live with her
mother (in
Troy Ohio) and the children where returned. a few months later they
returned
the children to children's services to be adopted out in October 1926.
Mary
Hizer Carter later moved to California where she died sometime in the
1950s in an
asylum.
This is all I can Locate, thru children service records in Troy Ohio,
pictures that where not burned and what very few times my grandfather
would speak of
her family. There is a very close connection to Miami County Ohio
childrens
home and The owner/founder Ida Smith. Her sister Ester Grace Smith Davis (
Jacobs later ) and her Husband Russell adopted my grandmother.
The childrens names are Albert, Gerold, Vesta, then a few years later my
grandmother Mary Madeline
It was told to me that Albert was soon to inlist directly from childrens
home
when he arrived there, Gerold Lived there not being old enough to inlist,
Vesta was taken in by Susan Vannoy Waterhouse and her husband but was not
formally adopted ( probly because of her age ) but the infant was raised
and finally
adopted by Grace Davis and her husband Russell. Gerold was visited often
by
Susan Waterhouse and she would bring him home for regular visits on
holidays,
but she always made sure he had clothing etc. I have a picture of all for
children together and there is a good age differance between my
grandmother and
her sibs.
There is a note in my Aunt Suzann's baby book that she was named after her
grandmother Mary Susann, and also that on Christmas they all went to
grandpa
Fletchers house.
My grandmother Mary Madeline ( many spellings ) died when my father was
only
a babe of 5 himself, and he never had contact with any family after her
death.
Thanks so much for any assistance
T.R.
