Sharon,
This is a different Zimri CARTER...sorry to foil you again! I have a
booklet that Marian CARTER LEDGERWOOD loaned me by Jeff CARTERn from
Anchorage, AL, written in 1989. Zimri Allen CARTER is believed to be
the son of Benjamin who was son of John "Salt Spring" who is believed to
be the son of Benjamin CARTER (and Margaret HOLLINGSWORTH) who is the
son of James & Susannah GRIFFITH CARTER. Jeff CARTER ranks right up
there with Mrs. LEDGERWOOD as a genealogist as he supports his theories
with excellent documentation.
Benjamin son of "Salt Spring" CARTERleft Laurens Co., SC sometime before
the 1810 census, and is believed to have settled in Lewis Co., MO. In
1821 he and family moved to what is now Carter Co., MO. His family
consisted of wife, 3 sons-William, Zimri, and Benjamin, and 2 duas.,
Betsy & Letitia.
There was also later mention of a son Henry.
Jeff CARTER states Zimri CARTER b. 30 Mar 1794 in Laurens Distr., SC.,
moved with family to Warren Co., MO. And that Carter Co., Mo., was
named for this Zimri.
All of the above info is from Jeff CARTER. His booklet is full of maps,
land records, wills, etc.
So, Sharon, if we are indeed from the Laurens Co., SC Carters-you from
Robert(son of Richard son of James)and me from the older Benjamin (son
of Benjamin son of James) then we are probably "cousins" of some degree
to Hainey who descends from Benjamin (son of John "Salt Spring" son of
Benj. son of James). It does get confusing!

Hi Guys!
My line is Zimri's brother, Richard P Carter, and I show Zimri married to
Mary Crosson in the next county over from Larens Co, SC. I need to verify that
whole family and would gladly send what I have slowly pieced together. They sure
were hard to follow from Cain Creek, Laurens Co, SC to Rutherford Co(part changed
to Williamson Co), TN. Zimri and Mary may have continued living in the GA area
across the border from Laurens Co... Anyway, my line is James/1, Richard/2,
Robert Rev/3, Richard P/4,Joel A/5, Martha J/6, Norval E/7, Harold/8,
Sharon/9-Me.
