Dear Ellen,
Ever since I discovered my James Carter living with the Quakers in
Bucks Co, PA I study anything about Quakers. My James never became one but I
find the Grandmothers for generations were Quakers. Quakers migrated together
and in a limited number of states, OH, IN, IA and Canada included. All the
surnames stay the same and Hadleys and Barnes are listed with them. Don't
leave out Lancaster Co, PA. Good luck.

I am looking for descendants of Samuel and Mary Barnes Carter and
their
three children Mordecai, John and Samuel. Their move north was from NC to
Ohio to Indiana. Mordecai was born May 27, 1777 in NC. I am particularly
interested in the HADLEY connection.
John's son David married Ruth Hadley, Mordecai's daughters Ara, Edith and
Lucinda all married Hadleys: Jonathan, John and Elias. I am particularly
interested in Edith and Lucinda for I have a great deal of information on
Ara, and also I am interested in descendants of David and Ruth.
