My periodic shout-out re BENTLEY FREDERICK CARTER, allegedly born in
Jesup, GA around 1870ish and died somewhere in GA (Atlanta area?) in
late December 1931, married (secondly) Alma Irene Mulligan on December
3, 1919 in Atlanta. His first marriage is said to have produced at
least one son, name unknown. Anybody heard of him other than via my
periodic frustrated pleas to this list?

Holly - I am researching Thomas Carter , b ~ 1797 in South Carolina,
my
GGG grandfather. He migrated to Meriwether County GA and then on to
Coosa/Tallapoosa county, AL by 1850. Do you have, or know who might
have any information on this branch of the Carter family ?

distributing information but it distributes incorrect information just as fast as correct

original surname is not known. The first wife of Thomas Carter, Sr. was Suannah
"Susan" Merry, eldest surviving daughter of William and Jane Merry of York
County, Virginia. The 3rd wife of Thomas Sr was also named Susannah but her original
surname is not known. It was not Carroll or Baynes or Hulsey or Kilpatrick or any of the
other surnames that are often incorrectly claimed.

Merry.

family. There were three men with the name Thomas Carter all living in Goochland County,
Virginia in the mid-1700's and all three were married to women named Mary. Very
confusing.

what information you have on this John Carter. What I have has been posted here:

that John's brother, Josiah Carter, was married to Mary Anthony. Possibly Mary
Anthony and Winifred Anthony were related??
