The other thing I don't like in some researchers is that they only want to go by what
is documented... when we know that everything isn't documented. My mother has a
grandmother line that doesn't have a marriage license because the courthouse burned.
And, she died right before one census and her husband got remarried. So, the family
researchers don't accept our line because... no documentation except for my next under
grandmother's death certificate. Some people want to get too technical.
Anyway... that is my two cents in it..

That should be a given for every document you find online.
The records on most of these Genealogy websites are indexed by humans, and
there's always room for human error in any index.
An index is just that, an index created by a person transcribing information
from an original source making it easier to locate a name or place or other
subject in the original document, and one must take into account that not
all of the records were transcribed correctly. If there is a link to an
original source, go to that source, not the index, that's why the original
sources are included on the websites in the first place.
I know of people who never look at anything but an index, and put that into
their trees; when you ask them did they look at the actual record, they say,
no, why should I, the info's there?
What an utter waste of time for those people to even bother researching, if
that is their attitude.

I don't even trust the census records at least not what they
write for
there are so many errors in the names, occupations, etc. If you use
the census records on ancestry get your info from the copy of the
original record, not from their transcription
