I found the following. It looks like the fathers of Charles and Lucy knew each other in
1783 before Charles and Lucy married in 1786. It isn't proof but I would say this
supports the idea that the Charles Carter who married Lucy was the same Charles Carter who
was the son of Theodorick. Now if only a male Carter descendant of Charles & Lucy can
be found to do a Y-DNA test!!

I suggest you look on Heritage Quest for the book, "Barksdale Family History
and Genealogy" by John A. Barksdale. There is a family tree and information
about each line. I see a Dudley listed as a son of Henry (died 1788) and
Judith Barksdale. Only the children of Henry and Judith are named - no
spouses - on the tree, but they may be listed elsewhere in the book.
I looked on the DAR Genealogy database and found that Dudley Barksdale was a
patriot. He married first Lucy Coleman and second, Elizabeth X. Wimbush.
There is no descendants list for this record, which often shows all the
children. The member listed her lineage child as Elizabeth, who married
George Smith.
Hope this helps in your search!

Thanks! I have seen reports that Lucy was the daughter of Dudley Barksdale
& Lucy Coleman.
