Nancy,
How interesting - my daughter & family just moved to Huntsville, AL last
month!
I checked Edna Barney 's book, "So Obscure a Person" about Alexander
Stinson's descents (Virginia) to see if she listed a Charles Carter. There
was no reference to a Charles Carter - just Henry, John, and Childers Carter
(brothers?). Also Elizabeth Stinson Carter (married Roland P. Carter) and
children Susan Jane, George W., William H., Mildren Ann and Roland P.
Carter, Jr. This is not my line - these would be off of Alexander's son
David. I am off of son George Stinson who married Phoebe Barksdale. I will
continue to watch for Charles Carter.
We should definitely stay in touch! See e-mail below ...

Ginger,
It would be delightful if we stayed in contact with both the Carters and
DAR.
My revolutionary soldiers proved are Jesse Robinett, Wilkes Co NC and John
Thomas Hardin Co KY.
I have been trying to prove Charles Carter of Essex Co VA but they do not
want to accept my proof for his son and grandson. Charles Carter was in
Chesterfield Co VA after the war and then in Cumberland Co KY later in life.
I have been able to prove this line for Valley Forge Society because he
fought in a VA unit under George Washington.
My only sister lives on San Diego during the winter months and south of Reno
in the summer.

I am also a DAR Regent! My Patriot is Hickerson Barksdale, but recently
discovered through one of our chapter genealogists, that I am related to
William Carter of Halifax Co., NC (ca 1750-1810). I haven't submitted my
paperwork yet, hoping to find a marriage record for Nancy Carter and Jones
Boston. Nancy Boston is mentioned as a daughter in William Carter's Will
probated 1810. Also, Jones and Nancy's first son was named William Carter
Boston, and went by "Carter" Boston.
