I don't know that Carter family but I do want to applaud you for going to the effort
to rescue the photo. I hope someone from her family sees your message.
I'm replying off-list because I think all messages from HotMail addresses to the
CARTER list are being blocked. I haven't been able to post to the list for some time
now.

Subject: [CARTER] CARTER Family Photograph
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Dora CARTER of Omaha, Nebraska. The
photograph was taken at the Hall Studio, though there is no city or town
indicated for the studio. I would guess that the photograph was taken in
the early 1900's and that Dora was in her 50's or 60's at the time it was
taken. In addition to her name and hometown, someone has also written "1120
N 20" on the back of the photograph, though I've no idea what if anything
that might mean.
Based on limited research I was able to locate Dora in census records as
follows:
1880 census of Mill Creek, KS:
K. D. CARTER, age 25, a Farmer, born OH, parents born OH
Dora CARTER, wife, age 25, Keeping House, born IL, parents born OH/IN
Thersa CARTER, dau, age 4, born IA
Emma CARTER, dau, age 2, born IA
Gertrude CARTER, dau, age 7 months, born KS
1900 census of Omaha City, NE:
Dora S. CARTER, age 45, born Oct 1854, married 25 years, 7 children/5
living, born IL, parents born OH/IL, a Seamstress
Ola R. CARTER, dau, age 18, born Jun 1881, born KS, parents born OH/IL, at
School
Vesta M. CARTER, dau, age 16, born Nov 1883, born IA, parents born OH/IL, at
School
William J. CARTER, son, age 12, born Mar 1888, born NE, parents born OH/IL,
at School
I am hoping to locate someone from Dora's family so that this wonderful old
treasure can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of
this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
