Gee, I got so many responses to my posting about Landon Carter, I’ll go
for THE BIG ONE!
My earliest Carter is William who died in Halifax County, NC, in 1810.
His children were (order may not be correct): William “Billie”,
Theodorick, Joseph, Francis, Mary, Martha, Nancy Ann, and Lucy. All of
these names appear among the descendants of Giles Carter as given in
the book “Giles Carter of Virginia,” by General William Giles Harding
Carter. More particularly, the name Theodorick, which is very rare is
given to at least ten different persons in different generations in the
Carter book, including a son of Giles Carter which son named one of his
sons Theodorick who married Anne Waddill. They had a son, William,
about whom nothing is known. I wonder if this could be the William
Carter who died in Halifax County, NC, in 1810.
I would be most gratefull for any information proving the parents of
William Carter who died in 1810 or any information about the William
Carter, son of Theodorick Carter and Anne Waddill.
Best wishes,
George

I believe the given name "Landon" used by a number of Carters is always
associated with the Robert "King" Carter line of Colonial Virginia.
I'm going by memory (which is dangerous for me) but I believe the first
Landon Carter was a son or grandson of Robert "King" Carter, and the
name was continued in later generations.

Good Morning,
I am researching the line of William Carter b. Nov. 18, 1855 near Louisville, Kentucky d. October 3, 1901 in Jefferson County, Iowa. His parents were George Washington Carter and Mary E. Bray. If anyone on this list has possible connections I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you,

I would like to hear from others that are researching/connected to this line this includes siblings of these that are listed above.
Thanks,

Hello List Members,
I was a member of this group back in 1999 and made contact with some one that had researched the family of Presley Carter. They had sent me a file and I would like to find that person again.
After several hard drive crashes, I lost contact.
This is the only clue that I have and it is in the Notes of my family tree file:
Joseph N. Adams, Oak Ridge, TN. Early Carters of SW VA by Rita Sutton pg 77.
