I am looking for information on the following CARTER family.
Jefferson A. CARTER was born abt. 1826 in Alabama and died bef. 1870 in Union County, Arkansas. He married Nancy (DOWDLE???) 1845 in Pickens Co., Alabama. Nancy was born abt 1829 in Alabama and died after 1880.
Children of Jefferson and Nancy are:
1. Clementine D. CARTER b. 1846 in Pickens Co., Alabama & married Andrew WHITE in 1863.
2. Melvina Vester CARTER b. 1849 in Pickens Co., Alabama & married a WATSON in Arkansas.
3. Lycurgus Barton CARTER b. 4-1-1851 in Pickens Co., Alabama & married Amanada McMATH 12-23-1874.
4. Leonidas A. CARTER b. 1854 in Union Co., Arkansas
5. Rebbecca L. CARTER b. 1857 in Union Co., Arkansas
6. Jefferson W. CARTER b. 1861 in Union Co., Arkansas
Jefferson A. CARTER received two land grants in Pickens Co., Alabama. 1-1-1852 Patent #26022 & 26053. After Jefferson died, the family moved to Galley Rock, Pope Co., Arkansas.
I suspect that Nancy may be Nancy DOWDLE d/o Robert DOWDLE of Pickens Co., AL. Lycurgus had a son named Robert Dowdle CARTER.
Any help identifying this family would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone looking for a soldier who served in the Civil War I have a web site that makes it easier: www.itd.nps.gov/cwss or you can go to the Miss. UDC website and click on "selected links" and get there- www.mississippiudc.homestead.com. There is a simple form to fill out with basic info - when the list pops up you can click on the soldiers name to get more info and also on the battalion or regiment listed and get a short history on it plus a list of soldiers that served in same. Good luck. Mickey

I am attempting to locate Berry Carter, b. 1847, Haywood Co., NC or Polk
Co., TN to Frederick, b. 1813 and Margaret Carter.
Frederick Carter is the son of William Carter, b. abt 1768 and Rebecca
Unknown, Haywood Co., NC.
Berry Carter married Sarah Ann Falls Crawford in Georgia. She died and
he moved on to Arkansas where I believe he married
he married Elizabeth Thompson and had three children:

Territory (OK)
Manuel Henry Carter, b. 17 Aug 1884, Boston Mountains, AR or Indian

Andrew Jesse Carter, b. 30 Mar 1894, Indian Territory.
Does anyone know how to find Cherokee Census Records which would include
whites living in Cherokee Lands before 1907.
Or, does anyone know of these Carters? My mother is Mildred Elizabeth
Carter, deceased. She is a daughter of Andrew Jesse
Carter.

I found a James Carter in the 1850 Hendricks county census with a son Joseph age 11. Which would be possible if James married after the death of his wife first wife, Elizabeth Crabb.
There is a Leonard Carter buried in the same cemetery right next to the tombstone of Jeremiah Carter, could they be brothers??
Any help or input would be very welcome
