I am seeking any information on my gr-grandmother's family. We think her father was Clinton Carter and her mother's maiden name was Turner. That is all the information I have on them. Their children were:
Alice Hannah Carter, b. Aug 1865, Cumberland Co., KY
Melia (Mela) Carter, b. Oct 1867, same
Jane Carter, b. abt. 1869, same
John Carter, b. abt. 1871, same
I only have information on Alice, my gr-grandmother, and her sister, Melia. Both married in KY and moved to TX where they raised their families and died there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Nancy Ann Webb McLaughlin
Meg,
I am. Lemuel Carter is my GGGrandfather.

I was interrupted when typing the earlier message. My reason for stating
some of my sisters' and my genealogies was put out without our consent is
because much of it has not been proven/documented yet. In otherwords it
needs to be checked throughly. Check other's work as well and share what you
can.
Mary
Aren't replys, etc. supposed to be listed for all to see? It's only a rare
case where something could be done otherwise. The idea of a list is to give
the info to all who may need/want it.
Some people have put geneologies out there in my name and also that of my
sister. WE have never put onything on the `net.
Thank you if you read this.

Hello
I was wondering if someone could tell me the best place to look for Carter
information in Halifax Co NC? We are planning a trip there this summer and I
would love to do some research. It is such a small place I can't figure out if
my time would be better spent in the Raliegh archives.
thanks Mara
Looking for parentage/family of (Wm.?) Vincent Carter b. 1803 Halifax NC >
Smith Co TN 1806 >Giles Co TN 1830
The person who put the info together had his address listed I believe.
No, my Carters are the Wm. Carter & Mary Goodloe and also Capt. John Carter
of Lancaster Co.
Margaret

Marriage records extracted from the Columbia Democrat by WPA Project 5175 are
on the web. Does anyone know if copies of these newspapers exist? Would
like to just get a copy of it from the paper itself. Have marriage of James
Black and Mary Ann Carter, 2 Mar, 1843. Thanks

Good morning and Happy 4th of July to all my Carter cousins.
I am a descendant of Margaret Carter b abt 1799 and who married Col. William Coakley of Ireland who came to America he served in the "War of 1812".......Lewis Coakley their son died in Taylor Co., Ky which was old Green Co., KY.
I have been told that GEORGE CARTER of Virginia perhaps in the Old Rapphannock or Essex Co., area... was my Margaret's father and that he married a Miss SMITH.
I have no documentation of this or proof. Can anyone help me and do you know if there is a "WILL" for GEORGE CARTER of his wife?
Does anyone know who she was or her parent were?
Take care and I am at MsHamilton(a)kih.net
Marsha
Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY
New to list. I have the following: Anna Vandling b. 1803 PA married 1)Wm
Carter, 2) Christopher Shell. Christopher died in PA. She migrated to Dixon,
Lee Co., IL with several of her Carter and Shell children about 1847. One was
James Carter, who migrated to Nebraska. Married a Girton. Do not have where he
is buried.
Also do not know where Carter daughter Jane or Catherine June is buried. She
apparently was married to Wm Girton Shoemaker, also have that she married a
Hubbard and a Jones. Was she the one called Margaretta?
Have quite a bit of information on this family, but we cannot find where Anna
is buried. If you have any information on this family it would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks. Millie
