Hi Folks,
I have been getting thousands of bounced emails from Rootsweb. I mentioned it to McAffee and they said that perhaps someone on the list has a virus.
The Sir Cam virus is quite active right now. If you are having problems I suggest that you scan your computer for a virus.
Sincerely,
Carol Clapshaw

Would appreciate information on Mary Ann Elizabeth CARTER b 1764 Cumberland Co, N.C. who married William TYLER. Does anyone know who her parents were? Joy
Good grief Don Pauley. I have already explained Devon. (just Playing) It is a large county in the South West of England and next to Cornwall where they make pasty's. My own personal earliest Carter is THOMAS CARTER born in South Molton (Devon) 1781. He died in Plympton St Mary (Near Dartmoor) 16th May 1858 in the workhouse. He was a private soldier in the South Devon Militia when he married Margery Haybard in Plympton St Mary 27th May 1804 they had the following children: ELIZABETH HAYBARD CARTER BORN 1809 DIED 1811 JACOB CARTER BORN 1815 DIED 1849 * THOMAS CARTER BORN 1818 DIED 1819 SALLY ANN CARTER BORN 1821 THOMAS CARTER BORN 1823 GEORGE CARTER BORN 1826 !
* JACOB CARTER was my gt grandfather x3 he married as yet unknown wife and died at the age of 34 whilst a Royal Marine Sargeant Major. He had the following child: JESSIE CARTER BORN 1846. She married twice. First to Robert William Warne Pope and then to George Greep. I have at present 24 Devon Carter baptisms, 17 marriages and 22 burials....
That will do for now.....Lin
This is something I thought all you genealogy researches would enjoy.

Sorry but Devon is part of the South West Peninsular and quite a distance from Wales although there might be a connection but I have yet to find one.I personally have not come across a Levi. Mine are Thomas's and Jacob's and a Richard or two.
Hello Carter people. This is to inform you that I am new to the list and a descendant of the Devon Carter's. As I live in Devon, if I can be of any assisstance to you, across the water cousins, please do not hesitate to let me know......Lin Perrie
I have not posted any CARTER info for a while. Below is my line. Any help
on establishing my WILLIAM CARTER's date of birth, wife, etc. would be
appreciated:
My WILLIAM CARTER (b. @1770-1780) in VA; supposedly lived in White
County TN, then in Marion Co., AL, on to Itawamba Co., MS. He had the
following children that I have been able to find:
FATHER: William R. (?) Carter, SR.
MOTHER: Ruth Bean?
CHILDREN:
1. Irvin Carter, b. about 1797 in VA, married Margaret about 1825.
2. Franklin Carter
3. Sanford Carter, (also listed as Stanford on some records); born in 1803
or 1804 in TN; married Anna Penelope about 1828. THIS IS MY LINE. He was
born about 1803 in TN, and died March 3, 1859 in Itawamba Co., MS. He
married Anna about 1827, born bout 1814 in North Carolina and died March 2,
1849 (she is buried in White's Cemetery, Itawamba Co., MS. After Anna died
Sanford remarried to Mary Bullen/Butler September 25, 1851 in Itawamba Co.,
MS. Sanford and William show up as heads of household in Marion County, AL
in 1830 and then in Itawamba County, MS in 1840. From the 1850 Census which
gives the place of birth of each child, they must have moved to MS in about
1837. In the 1840 Census William Carter, Sr. is listed as a head of
household with the following sons as heads of household: William Jr.,
Samuel, Franklin, Baines, and Sanford . In the 1841 MS State Census, Sanford
in listed there with 9 in his household. William Carter, Sr. is listed there
with 3 in his household. Other sons of William listed there are: Irvin
Carter, 9 in his household; Baines Carter, 3 in his household; and Samuel R.
Carter, 7 in his household. In 1850 Sanford is listed in the federal census
in Itawamba Co., MS as being 46 years old as being from TN, with wife, Anna,
age 36, born in NC. Sanford and Anna had the following children: (1)
William G. Carter, born @ 1828 in Marion Co., AL. (2) Alexander Carter, born
1830 in Marion Co., AL. He married Mary Welch (THIS IS MY LINE); (3)
Calvin Carter, born in 1831 in Marion Co., AL;
(4) Mary Carter, born in 1836 in Marion Co., AL. (5) Susan Angeline Carter,
born in 1837 in MS; (6) Luther Carter, born in 1841 in MS. (7) Alfred
Carter, born in 1843 in MS. (8)___ Carter, born in 1845 in MS. (9) Drucilla
Carter, born in 1847 in MS.
(10) Sanford, Jr., born in 1849 in MS, possible Anna died in or as a result
of childbirth, since she died in March 2, 1849.
4. Hugh L. Carter, born in 1805 in TN, was in White Co., TN in 1820, then to
Marion Co., AL, then to Itawamba Co., MS in the 1830s. He later moved to
Rusk (Cherokee Co.), TX in the 1850s. He married Elizabeth Dulaney, and they
had a daughter, Mary E., who married William Talor Smith. Hugh Carter died
in 1855 in Cherokee Co., TX. I have corresponded with his descendants by
e-mail.
5. daughter, b. 1806
6. Samuel Carter, b. 1808
7. William R. Carter, Jr., b. 1810 in TN; married 1. Polly, 2. Marcella
Wiggins; he moved to Arkansas, then to Rusk (Cherokee Co.), TX; had a son
named Hugh b. 14 Aug 1832, was a Confederate soldier, died in 1909 in TN;
7. daughter, b. 1812
8. daughter, b. 1814
10. Baines Carter, b. 1816 in TN; married Elizabeth Warren in 1839.
I would like to hear from anyone, who may be connected to this family, can
correct me on any of the above information, or may have seen some possible
information on this CARTER family, while searching for their line.
Thank you,
Pat Garrison

I haven't posted my Carters for awhile.
William Noah Carter b. October 09, 1889, Allen County Ky
married
Queen Victoria Swindle in Macon County, Tennessee
his parents were
Samuel A. Carter b. January 25, 1867 m. Allie Manerva Janie Roark
his parents were
Joseph T. Carter b. October 23, 1834 m. Synthia Adaline Shaw
Samuel, Allie, Joseph and Synthia are all buried in Akersville Cemetery,
Monroe Co., KY. They lived in the Fountain Run area of Allen County.
I see in the 1850 census where they should be, but I just can't piece it
together...there were a lot of initials used, rather than entire spelling.
