Can anyone on this list identify this CARTER? Was he the s/o William and
Martha J. ? CARTER found on the 1860 Fayette Co. Census and on the 1880
Fay. Co. Census as such:
In 1860 Fayette County, Virginia Census, #337-27-199-176, District 1,
Fayetteville, 20 Jun 1860, P. Morton-- Wm. Carter 29, Farmer $2000, $2000,

Julia 11, Ellen L. 8.
I found this on a site on the internet about KS. Did the entire CARTER
family move to KS.
I am trying to locate my Mathias/Matthew CARTER b. 1848-1855 (Ral. Co. VA),
(on his death record, date is 1848 and place of birth Ral. Co., which was
probably Fay. if b. 1848). I cannot locate my Mathias/Matthew on any
census before 1880.
If someone has the genealogy of this Matthew CARTER, s/o Wm and Martha J.,
please let me hear from you.
What happened to the rest of this CARTER family and who were Martha Francis
Coleman's parents?
Who was the father of this Wm. CARTER and what was his wife Martha J.'s
maiden name. She was b. in KY according to the census?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jim,
Are you one of the Carters of Ms? At:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~genworld/carter.html
Many Carters stem out of Virginia. Are you of the Quaker line of
Bucks Co, PA(James(1), then to Fredericks Co, VA, then to (96th
District)Laurens Co, SC, then to Georgia, then to MS? This is my line of
migration. Check into the migration web to determine who your Carters are.
I'll check back when I have a few addresses.
Happy hunting, Sharon Carteer Lengfellner

I have noticed several queries concerning Joel Carter, of course there were
several "Joel Carters`" and I found one who was married to #1 Amelia Bentley
#2 Elizabeth Rowe.
This Joel was bn: abt 1810 and died 1890.
HIs father was John Carter , his mother Ailpha Benson.
For anyone who is interested in this Joel Carter there is a very good bio.
on him and his family and life styles at:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/u/c/Joel-T-Buchanan/GEBE1-0013.html
This Joel Carter had his plantation around Troy Al.
You may find it very interesting even if not directly related to him.

Dear Carters,
I am James W. Carter of Bryan, Texas. I have just started trying my
hand at genealogy. All I am certain of is that my grandfather, Robert
Anderson Carter, was born 18 March 1872 in Rippley, Tippah, Mississippi,
and his father, James S? Carter was married to Mary Walter Kent of
Mississippi on 12 Sept. 1861 in Tippah, MS. I believe that James
S.Carter died in Tippah, MS in 1903 and that he was born in 1836 in
Virginia to Robert F. Carter. So far I am unable to verify the latter.
Anyone having any information they wish to share, or direction they wish
to point me, is most welcome. Also if more information is needed, I
will gladly try to furnish it.
Sincerely,
James W. Carter
