I am posting this to the list as it may help someone here. This book is now being published by Paula Carter. The book about Carter's contains names such as Isaac Carter 1756 Duplin Co, NC to 1840 Perry Co, MS; all his current living descendants that she could find are in the book. Great pictures that were shared. It has summary of his brothers, Matthew 1745 NC - 1812 Jackson Co, MS married Cassandra Barbour and Thomas 1760 NC - 1840's MS married Celia McDonald and their children. It covers Isaac and his brothers parents, Matthew & Patience Lamb Carter. this ties in with Bertie Co, NC & Isle of Wright CO, VA Carters, but only summaries of them are in there, as the VA & NC Carters have been sifted through by many. About 450 pages, indexed, and referenced page by page to show how serious she was with sources. This letter is from the info she sent to me. So if anyone is interested in her book you can email her at her email address: Her name is Paula Carter plcartr(a)email.msn.com and she can fill you in on the other questions you might have about the book.

> A MAIL-CARRIER IS WOUNDED NINE TIMES BY INDIANS AND STILL LIVES!
>
> Upon the arrival of the union Pacific train from the West late Saturday
> afternoon we had the pleasure of meeting at the Union Pacific depot Mr.
J.F.
> CARTER, the young mail-carrier who was, some 6 weeks ago, so badly riddled
> up with bullets by a party of Indians north of Laramie. His account of
the
> affair, as briefly told to us, is, in substance, as follows:
>
> He was engaged in carrying the mail from Cheyenne to White Clay, a
distance
> of 140 miles. He had a team of California bronchos and a light wagon,
> weighing only 130 pounds. When he was out about thirty miles on his
route,
> he was fired upon by a party of Sioux Indians, in ambush, commanded by
> LITTLE WOLF, a nephew of RED CLOUD. One of the shots struck him in the
neck,
> marrowly escaping the spinal column. Young CARTER fell over in the box of
> the wagon, and his team started on a rapid run-away. The Indians sprang
to
> horse, and followed in close pursuit, firing all the time at the fallen
> mail-carrier for a distance of nine miles, when his team ran into a camp
of
> friendly Cheyennes, who protected him from his blood-thirsty pursuers.
Upon
> being lifted out of the wagon he was found to be shot in nine different
> places -- once in the neck, twice in the left arm, thrice in the right
leg,
> once in the left leg, once in the shoulder, and once in the groin. His
> wagon was covered with blood and pierced with bullets. As soon as he
> recovered sufficient strength to be moved any distance, he was taken to
the
> military post at Laramie, twenty-nine miles distant, by the Cheyennes, who
> had previously bathed his wounds and given him all the attention possible.
> At Laramie he had his wounds dressed and all the bullets extracted except
> the one in his groin, thirty-six hours after the attack had been made upon
> him. By careful nursing, and owing to his strong, wiry constitution, and
> wonderful power of endurance, he rapidly recovered, and in a few weeks was
> able to travel. Mr. CARTER is but twenty-one years of age. He speaks

Thank you for replying Leota,
Yes I know Genetics 101, but was looking for medical information from individuals
in the families that may have had or carried the MD to another line of
descendants.
Here is what I have. If I could find any Moseley's that knew about the marriage
of M. Abraham Carter and a Moseley Girl it would help. Or anyone that is
knowledgeable of the families would be nice.

James has had two of his children tested by MDA and they are clear. He and his
wife just had twin boys and they will be tested when they are old enough..
Again thanks for the response. I am willing to learn and find out anything about
our line of people. My son is only 34 years old and already on complete
disability. He can't stay on his feet with out braces for any length of time and
in constant pain.
Thanks to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America he gets his medical needs
taken care of.
