Sorry everyone that you received more than one of these. Didn't appear anything
was transmitting and my computer shut down. However, if you received more than one,
save the last one and destroy the rest. I added a little more detail on the final
one.

I have been unable to find out anything about my ggrandmother, Orra Carter
born
October 8, 1825.
I do know that she was born in New York and that her parents were born in
Conneticut. Where I have no idea. She married William S. Bowen in
New York some time around 1845 - 50. They moved to Wisconsin sometime
around that same time of marriage. In Wisconsin they lived in Waushara Co.
until about 1870 then came west. Their son, my grandfather, was named
Farmer Bowen. I've always wondered if Farmer might be a family name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THanks,
Pat
Jack,
Only George Carter I have is of an earlier generation. I didn't follow
this line down because we branch off with his sibling. HOWEVER, the
book mentioned below may have this George's descendants, which may
connect you.
Let me know the result.

I've been searching for the ancestors/siblings of my g-g-grandfather,
William D. Carter, for years with no luck, and am hoping someone can
help. My earliest record of William is his marriage to Eleanor Lemmon
in Harrison County, Indiana in 1819. His birthplace is given as North
Carolina in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses, but I have no idea
where. I have gone through the entire 1850 Harrison County census
hoping to find a clue (like other Carters who came from NC--nothing).
Family records give his birthdate as 16 Jan 1796. He evidently had some
education, as he was a Justice of the Peace when he was quite young.
Later he was listed as a stone mason, and then a farmer. He lived out
his life in Harrison County. I have information on some of his
children--most, of course, on my g-grandfather, Francis Marion Carter.
Any help would be deeply appreciated. Here are the children and their

Dear Carter Cousins:
I have recently set up a genealogy web site, and since my mother's
maiden name was Carter, it includes quite a few of them! You can check
it out at http://www.redrock.net/sjones
Thanks! In particular I am looking for William Carter's ancestors. He
was my immigrant he was born 1821 in Ledbury,Hereford, England and died
in Utah,USA in 1896. His father was Thomas Carter 1789-1848
Freckenham,Worcester,England and Sarah Parker; son of Thomas Carter
1752-1831 Hanbury, Worcester, England & Elizabeth ?; son of John Carter
1719-1772 Bromsgrove,Worcester,England & Mary or Maria Nash; son of
Nathan or Nathaniel Carter, dates and places unknown & Anne Harper.
Any additions would be greatly appreciated!

I am researching my husbands 2nd great grandfather and his family origin as
follows:
Champe CARTER abt. 1849-1886 md. Ruth Victoria RANDOLPH 1847-1885
I don't know when or where they married. I was sent a list of CHAMPE and
CARTER marriages from a very helpful person some years ago, but could not make
sense of it. Champe and Ruth had the following children in Blum, Hill County,
Texas
Mary Ellen Montgomery Carter b. 1872 md. Benjamin Floyd SUMNER
Ruth Vicotria Randolph Carter md. Mr. BERRY
Jinnie Carter md. Mr. BARRERE
Roberta Carter md. Mr. CASS
I would be thankful for any information that I can get on this family.
