The one in Jasper County, Illinois, was named for William Carter,
Postmaster. (PO 12Dec1858-22Oct1861)
The PO in Williamson County, Illinois, was established when it was changed
from Fredonia 18Dec1871-active 62918
The Precinct of Carterville in Williamson County was named for the city and
was formerly named Eight Mile Precinct
