Dear Group:
Last month, Meg Gagliardi, a member of our project, developed a wonderful idea to promote
our project. She suggested that we send flyers to historical societies so that they could
help us publicize our project. Meg designed the flier and the cover letter.
Tomorrow, Meg and I are starting to mail the first phase of flyers. She is mailing one to
every historical society in both Virginia and Kentucky, while I am mailing one to each
society in Tennessee and Maryland. Penny McKenzie is distributing our fliers to the
historical societies in Mississippi. Any one who would like to volunteers to do a state
would be appreciated.
Meg plans on mailing fliers to Pennsylvania next, while I will work on more of the
Southern states. Ideally, we would like to cover all 50 states and then start on the UK.
We have another member who has joined last week. I do not have his tree yet. I receive
quite a bit of correspondence from people who may possibly be interested but are not
"sold" on DNA for genealogy just yet. They may come around in the future. I
also see a lot of new surname projects being added weekly at
www.familytreedna.com.

to your signature line when you post to a mailing list or reply to a post that would be
great. They may not always be a Carter researcher but may know one who is. That might
help get our project be seen in more places.
