I have seen a couple of E-mails someone sent out about Carters that ended up in Fannin Co,
TX. Please look at the information below and see if yours line up with these Carters
at all. If so, please let me know. thanks, kathy Wells
1)Mr. Carter (possibly John Carter, secretary of the colony in Spotsylvania Co, VA)
2)Bailey Carter b.1742 in Spotsylvania Co, VA. (I have quite a bit of info. on
him. Look at David Wells Gedcom at Worldconnect)
3)Henry Carter b.1765 (not sure he is son of Bailey?? But his
grandchildren end up with Baileys grandchildren)
4)Henry Carter b.abt. 1817 m/Mariah Mathews married 1837
5)Thomas Jefferson Carter b.April 22, 1847 Barren Co,KY d.
Nov 24, 1931 Bonham, Fannin Co, Tx (same confed. vet. camp as David V. Carter, below).
He moved to Fannin Co,Tx . Book "Civil War Veterans" by Fannin County Museum
of History, pg. 16. He ran away from home at 14 yrs old to join the confederate army.
Scottsville, KY in 1862, Co C, 2nd Ky. Regt. Cav. under Gen. John Morgan.. Captured at
Corrigan Ind. sent to Camp Moton, prisoners. Got out at end of war. He moved to
Bonham, Tx about 1900. Was in Sul Ross Camp #164 of United Confed. Vets. Information
from Mrs. Ray Taylor, Granddaughter ; Buried in Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham, Tx.
m/Susan Catherine Durham Oct 26, 1876. She was b.Oct
18, 1849, d.Jan 9, 1878.
5)Henry Carter b.1849 d.1924 Fannin Co, Tx (buried in
Carson cemetery as is David V. Carter, below).
m/Rachel ? b.1850, d. 1929 Carson cemetery, Ector,
Fannin Co, TX.
5)James A. Carter d. January 27, 1928.
m/Annie Key Durham Jan 4, 1866. she was b. Sept 26,
1840, d.October 1919.
6)Cameron H. Carter, b. July 14, 1873; m.
LILLIAN ATWOOD.
6) Eva Western Carter, b. April 16, 1869.
m/Ben R. Edmonds Feb 1,1892
4)Joseph J. Carter b ca 1808 VA, evidently came through
Kentucky. I am wondering if he was part of the Barren Co KY Carter migration. His wife,
Juliet Luckett, was from Barren County. Henry Carter below and Samuel uckett both filed
for Rev. War. pensions in Barren county. perhaps Henry and Joseph are related? They
were in Cass Co, MO in 1860 and Kansas City, MO in 1880.

3) George Carter m. ANNA DODD, 1806, Barren Co, KY.
3) William Carter m. POLLY DODD, 1808, Barren Co, KY.
3) Female Carter m. WILLIAM PULLEN.
