VIC, I could not get a reply thru to you, so I am sending it thru the list for you to
read!
VIC,
We may unravel this puzzle yet! If the information below is =
true, which is what I am trying to verify, then the Robert Carter you =
speak of might be the one below or the son of the one below, who is =
brother to the Bailey in question.
Mary Margaret (Taliaferro) married Richard Franklin Simpson, was the =
third daughter of Zachariah Taliaferro, who was a soldier in the =
Revolutionary War. After the war he studied law and removed from =
Carolina County, Va., to Columbia, S.C. After some years he returned to =
Virginia and married Margaret Chew Carter, a daughter of JOHN CARTER and =
his wife Hannah (Chew) Carter, who had the following children:
Children of John Carter & Hannah Chew(according to this book but his =
will names more children) =20
1.. Mary Carter, who married Maj. Stephens=20
2.. Lucy Carter, who married Benton Taliaferro=20
3.. Judith Carter, married Joseph SUTTON (note this Sutton)
4.. Robert Carter, who never married (Possibly author didn't know if =
he married)
5.. **BAILEY CARTER, who never married (Our Bailey Carter did marry)
6.. Margaret Chew Carter, who married Zachariah Taliaferro
Daughter Mary Margaret Talliaferro married Richard =
Franklin Simpson b.1798
I really can't answer your question, but the Simpson book is possibly =
completely available to see at the following URL:
