Here is the original message I attempted to send without success. Sorry
folks.

Ken,
I find your story very interesting. I have been waffling on the idea
of
ordering a DNA test but I think that I will go ahead and do so.
Sarah
Carter was my 4th great grandmother. I have been trying to find out
if
Charles Carter was the actual father of her children. And I have
been
trying to find out why they never married. Perhaps she was a
prostitute and
Charles refused to marry her? I don't see this as the case if
you
look at
the birth dates of her children. They are all nearly 2 years apart.
She was
almost constantly pregnant, which is consistent with married couples
during
this period. Maybe they were cousins. There is no evidence to
support
this, and there are other examples in this line that married first
cousins.
Maybe Charles was black. Again no evidence to support that theory
and
during that period (1820-30) he probably wouldn't have lived very
long. It
is very interesting. Also note that Sarah was buried in an unmarked
grave.
I need to contact George Waldron of Vinton VA, because I believe that
he has
more information on Sarah. George's great-grandmother was
Serelda
Carter.
Serelda was born Sarah but changed her name because of her dislike of
her
grandmother.
My connection to Sarah Carter is through Berry L. Carter's
brother
Andrew
Jackson Carter. Andrew Jackson had a son James Columbus Carter. In
the
tree that is posted on the website it shows that James Carter and
Laura
Bowyer had one child Ernest Carter. This is incomplete. They had 2
living
children and one deceased when they left Virginia in 1888. They
moved
to
Marionville, MO and had a total of 11 children. I am in the process
of
updating the list with hopes of getting it posted to the tree that
already
exists. Although it is incomplete I will attach it to this email. I
am the
son of Michael Eugene Carter which is the last generation listed so
far.
I will keep you updated if I get a hold of George Waldron. His
computer was
broke when I spoke to him last. His email is nordlawg(a)rev.net. I
plan on
having my father take the DNA test but I will have to monitor the
results
from Afghanistan as I am deploying with the Army next month. At that
time
my new email will be todd.carter(a)us.army.mil
