Charles,
My name is Joe Carter and I have found your e-mail via the Carter DNA
project.
My earliest proven Carter ancestor is Crafford/Crawford Carter b 1797
according to my research and records. He has been my Brick wall on this
line for over 10 years and as far I'm aware no active researcher
descendant has been able to prove his parents. He was born in NC and
migrated to Lincoln Co. Tn between 1810 and 1820. For several years I
have speculated that his father was Henry.
Last night I found the Carter DNA site and found your family tree listed
there. I was amazed to see in generation 7 a Crafford Carter marriage
(something I have been looking for several years) and then in generation
8 I see a Henry Carter with a son Crafford!!! Your Crafford marries a
Mouning Unknown (so does mine) has a son Henry M who marries Mary E.
Miles b 1848 (so does mine) and a daughter Martha Jane who marries
William Stubblefield b 1848 (so does mine), you also list a son Crafford
which I can not confirm. In fact I have 13 children of Crafford and
Mourning but not another Crafford amoung them. This line is fairly well
documented and I'm willing to share if you are interested.
I am interested in getting more details that you have of the family.
Would you be willing to send me a resister report or any other report (I
can take just about any file type) on the information you have?
Also how do you relate to this line? Who would be our common ancestor?
If I did the DNA test and we match would we prove these Craffords are
one in the same (or I should say prove the common ancestor)?
Very much looking forward to your reply and information. At last a
breakthrough!!
