Hi Diane,
Your letter caught my attention since your ancestors came through Alabama. Who in your
family came to Alabama and where in Alabama did they settle? My earliest ancestors were
Robert Carter and his son John Carter who were in Perry County in the early 1820s.
Censuses show that Robert was born in Virginia and John was born in Tennessee, and
that's about all I can find out about their beginnings. I would love to find someone
who might have more information on them. I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Jane Carter Michaels

Steve, None of my Carter ancestors relate to your names or
locations. My Carter line began in America with Giles Carter who came
from England and settled in Virginia. To my knowledge none of my
direct ancestors lived in Kentucky or
the Carolinas. Eventually my line settled in Alabama. My father came
to Texas as a young man. Don't get discouraged in your search. Good
luck. Diane Carter Giles
