Thank you both!
I don't know the county they were from in North Carolina. The census records for John
Henry and his wife Patience Carter do not specify which county in NC they were born in.

Good Luck!! I hope you find a male to test. You could be
related to my NC line. Our ancestry is very vague. Mt father
and at least 4 generations were in NC, around Fayetteville.
My DNA links me with Carters in Texas, Georgia and Florida.
We are from the J2 Haplogroup which is extremely rare,
especially from Great Britian.
Where in NC are your Carter's from?
Keep in touch,
Vance Carter

Steve, None of my Carter ancestors relate to your names or
locations. My Carter line began in America with Giles
Carter who came
from England and settled in Virginia. To my knowledge none
of my
direct ancestors lived in Kentucky or
the Carolinas. Eventually my line settled in Alabama. My
father came
to Texas as a young man. Don't get discouraged in your
search. Good
luck. Diane Carter Giles
