Hi Mike,
My Carter line is confusing. My "Y" DNA connection is to Capt. Thomas Carter
b.1630. But by family connections he is on my mother's side through Henry and
daughter Frances. My sure name Carter goes only to James L Carter born 1831 in
Frederick or nearby counties. He is buried in the Old Chapel Cemetery near Berryville VA.
I can only assume that the Captain's decedent moved up to the Frederick County area at
some point. I am looking for some help.
Best, John

Subject: [CARTER-DNA] Group R1b - 08 in Carter DNA Project and Holiday Sales
I am working on Group R1b - 08 with several connections in Halifax and Pittsylvania
Counties. The connections would be to the brothers Spencer Carter, Thompson Carter or John
Ewell Carter. Spencer Carter 1776/7 – 1861 is definitely not of the Thomas Carter of
Barford line. If you can add any information on these particular lines I would appreciate
it.
In case you are unaware, there is a FTDNA DNA sale until December 31 on all their
products. To be fair, AncestryDNA is also having a sale on their autosomal test.
