"Since St. Leger Landon Carter "of Cleve" 1785 - 1851 is a confirmed Great
Grandson of Robert "King" Carter 1663 - 1732 "
Confirmed only by paper-trail. Not confirmed by DNA testing.
And we don't know that the sons of Jenny Terry were not the sons of St. Leger Landon
Carter. An NPE could have happened between a son of Jenny Terry and Kit # 63875. Or some
but not all of the sons of Jenny Terry could have been sons of St. Leger Landon Carter.
As I have said many times, when you have only one Kit and no match, you can only assume
how far back the Y-DNA really goes.
There is an established procedure for identifying the generation where an NPE occurred.
It just takes more digging and cooperation.
"Therefore, based on the results of Kit 63875 we would have to state the male who
tested is NOT a descendant of Robert "King" Carter and it is NOT plausible that
St. Leger Landon Carter is the Most Distant Ancestor of the individual who tested."
I agree with the first part in that Kit # 63875 is not a direct paternal line descendant
of Robert "King" Carter. He may be a descendant by some other line.
As for the second part, I never thought it made sense to list St. Leger Landon Carter as
the Most Distant Ancestor for any Kit since "St. Leger Landon Carter "of
Cleve" 1785 - 1851 is a confirmed Great Grandson of Robert "King" Carter
1663 - 1732".

Subject: [CARTER-DNA] Is Kit 63875 a Descendant of St. Leger Landon Carter who is a Great
Grandson of Robert "King" Carter?
One of the reasons for my becoming a Carter DNA Project Co-Administrator was based on my
interest in this question: Is Kit 63875 a descendant of St. Leger Landon Carter who is a
Great Grandson of Robert "King" Carter? That question plus the fact I have two
Landon Carter's in my own Carter line and there is the fascinating story of this Jenny
Terry family.
This family is represented by Kit # 63875 is in the Terry DNA project and as well as the
Carter DNA project.

Note: Transcription of the Will of St. Leger Landon Carter
There are some researchers who believe that St. Leger Landon Carter "of Cleve"
is in the paternal line of descent of the children of Jenny Terry mentioned in the will of
St. Leger Landon Carter.

See Kit # 63875 in link below in the Terry & Carter DNA projects:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/carter/default.aspx?section=yresults
Based on the DNA results for Kit 63875 this Terry family would be haplogroup I1. Since
St. Leger Landon Carter "of Cleve" 1785 - 1851 is a confirmed Great Grandson of
Robert "King" Carter 1663 - 1732 we would expect any male descendants of his to
test as confirmed haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1a4 [See Lineage Group R1b - 32 in the Carter DNA
project]. Therefore, based on the results of Kit 63875 we would have to state the male who
tested is NOT a descendant of Robert "King" Carter and it is NOT plausible that
St. Leger Landon Carter is the Most Distant Ancestor of the individual who tested.
Note: This is a public forum and when responding we do not mention the names of the
persons who DNA tested.
