early Carter's in Virginia and Jamestown. It's pricey because this is a library
quality edition, acid free paper and binding to last 400 years. They'll print other
editions.

Capt. Thomas Carter (1626-1668) was married to Elinor Cooke Instead, the daughter of
William Cooke, a merchant mariner who lived in Bristol.
>>>
>>>Capt. Thomas Carter was the son of William Carter who patented 2000 acres on
the Lower Chippokes Creek, west toward Sunken Marsh, and north to Bay Tree Neck. This was
three miles south down the Lower Chippokes Creek from the James River almost directly
across from Jamestown. They all lived there in Lawne's Creek Parish. Capt. Thomas
Carter never owned land, being a sea captain his whole life. He operated out of Bristol
with his father-in-law and London with his uncle Col. John Carter until Cromwell indicted
John Carter for treason and they both left England for the colonies. William Cooke moved
to Lawne's Creek Parish in the early 1660's.

>>>Capt. Thomas Carter was definitely married to Elinor Cooke.
