Most of the tests done by 23andMe are autosomal DNA tests. The 23 in the name 23andMe is
for the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a normal human cell. Some of their tests require a
monthly subscription.

Subject: Re: [CARTER-DNA] family finder
We sent a sample for my husband to Family Tree DNA before he died (for the
Carter project).
More recently, I sent a sample from my son and me to 23andMe. I was partly
curious about possible health issues my son might have inherited.
Meanwhile I have gotten in touch with some distant cousins (3rd-6th), for
example, via 23andMe -- both for me and my son.
According to 23andMe, I am "100% European" (which I found a little
surprising).
Is the info from Family Finder any more specific than that?
The 23andMe test is not autosomal, I think?
I need to learn more about DNA, obviously.
