Margaret,
Your status
(1) You are a member of the Carter DNA project
(2) You will need to type at least your parents and all your grandparents into a genealogy
program to do this.
(3) You have listed some not all of your surnbames on your FTDNA personal page
(4) You will have to check your Y-DNA matches to see if this is true for your family at 37
or 67 markers.
(5) You log onto your FTDNA personal page and there is a link to upload your Y-DNA marker
numbers to
Ysearch.org This will allow you to match with those who tested with other
companies. FTDNA does not do this automatically.
(6 ) You have already submitted a pedigree for the Carter DNA website for Kit # 14437

In order to be successful in utilizing your DNA results in your family research. I would
suggest the following:
(1) Join a DNA surname project
(2) Upload your family tree as a gedcom file to your FTDNA personal page
(3) Make sure you list all your surnames from your family pedigree sheets....
(4) If you are getting many surname matches with other surnames at the 37 or 67 marker
level I would add that surname to your surname list on your personal page.
(5) Transfer your Y-DNA results to
Y-search.org (You can do this from your FTDNA
personal page).
(6) List your pedigree on the Carter Web page... (Send them to me)
If you need assistance or don't understand any of the terms listed above please
contact me and I will try to help you.
