Thank you!! At least that tells me that his Y-DNA Haplogroup was "R1b".
In case you are wondering why I asked the question, John Hill Carter turned up as an
autosomal DNA match with a descendant of John Carter of Watauga. The John Carter of
Watauga line is Y-DNA Haplogroup "E1b1b1" -- Carter Kit # 19789. Since there is
speculation that the John Carter of Watauga line was an NPE from the Robert
"King" Carter line, I am wondering if this John Hill Carter is a descendant of
Robert "King" Carter. There was a John Hill Carter in that line but it could be
just a coincidence that they have the same name. Or, maybe not. Just another puzzle
piece to add to the confusion.
