Subject: Re: [CARTER-DNA] Robert King Carter questions
Jeff,
You seem to be rather confused. The Robert Carter I am talking about was from Virginia.
He was born in Virginia in 1663. He was not from Liverpool. And I have never heard of
anyone of that era being an exporter of tobacco *to* the USA (which didn't even exist
at that time).
I know where my Carter "rellies" came from. My Carter family is Y-DNA
Haplogroup "Q". They were Vikings from Scandinavia. They first invaded Normandy
and then England in 1066. Of course they probably didn't use the surname Carter that
far back. I don't know when, where, or how the surname of Carter got attached. It may
have been an occupational name or it may have been derived from some other name that
sounded something like Carter and got Anglicized to Carter.
I still have no idea of the Y-DNA Haplogroup of the Robert "King" Carter of
Virginia line but I don't expect it was "Q".

Australian and that your line was from Lancashire, UK? How does that get you a connection
