I think having them mixed in with Carter surname Kits is more confusing. I think having a
Family Finder group is a good idea.

Subject: Re: [CARTER-DNA] Family Finder Data ??
We are allowing anyone to be in the Carter DNA project if they meet the criteria listed
below.
If the Y-DNA of a non-surname is matching in a group of Carter males that indicates there
is a genetic relationship.
In some cases we do have individuals in the study who have joined on the Family Finder
test alone as they have a female Carter in the line or they are matching Carter families.
THIS IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO LIST A PEDIGREE WITH THE KIT NUMBER.
Yes to your question: Are some of the entries with the non-Carter surnames there because
of Family Finder?
I have been toying with the idea of having a Y-DNA grouping for those who are in the
project based on Family Finder tests; however, all of the Y-DNA tests would be different
haplogroups so it would confuse people.... So now I usually just toss them into a no
lineage assigned grouping.... Again, a pedigree listing would clear this up and of course
those in the Y-DNA results listing are still just males as Holly states.
