Hi Bette,
You may want to take a look at kit #19511 (my dad). After 5 years in the study we finally
had a solid match with the line that we suspected was our line, but couldn't document.
This line was in Chester co, PA. Some descendants of this line did go to Ohio so it's
worth comparing the markers to see if this is your line.
Good luck with your research,
Marcy

It was my hope by having my male Carter cousin take the dna that I
would be able to find someone who might have a connection since I can only go back to 1814
to Ohio with no knowledge of his father name or other sibblings except the knowledge from
a census that his parents lived in Chester PA.. And, they would know more info or be able
to provide a lead.
So the dna thing was a long shot (but this male cousin is the last male of the Carter
line here.
It would have been nice to be able to compare with other Carter's.
I hope things will get straightened out on the website. It seem like things were up and
running with Vickie & Dick when I e-mailed on June 3.

Anyone is welcome to look at my kit # 88894. My ancestor is CYRUS HARRISON CARTER.
Knowing what I now know, I WOULD NOT participate in any group DNA project because the
results is only as good as the reliability of information shared between matching
groups...of which I have no definitive match and probably never will.
I also have concerns as to the end results and disposal of the DNA samples, what with
this crazy scientific world we live in. I can imagine that someday in the year 2035, a
future descendant will tour a zoo and remark that some creature, "looks a lot like
Grandpa Carter," that being me. Anyway, at my age, I'm a lot closer to meeting my
ancestors in Heaven than trying to find DNA links, and/or, a documented paper trail.
I figure all the Carter Clan is related, so hello to all my cousins. I wish all of you
the best of luck. I'm really not a pessimist, I'm a realist!
