Hello Betsy, If you look thee are quite a few R1b1's in various groups,
Seperation is because of the number of matching markers, I think. Perhaps
Holly or Keith can give you more information on this.
Many times the paper trail can get lost, destroyed or information just may
not have been passed along or recorded.
Makes Research just that more challenging and frusterating.

Thank you, Larry! I have been trying to find the answer to this question
also! I am , actually my brother is, kit # GT0001* Our earliest PROVEN
ancestor is Chauncy Carter. It has been said, though not proven, that his
father was Nathan McCarter and Polly Kent M: 1800. She was the daughter
of
Charles Kent.
We are grouped with kit 91664 with a 29/30 match. There is no matching
paper trail!
We are supposed to be R1b1, though it is not shown on Carter-cousins web
page. So why are these two kits separated from the rest of the R1b1
groups?

Hi Holly,
I'm saying that I match Haplogroup R1b , Group 1 test results to kits
#15223
and # 30226 as well as other kits in Group l test, 15 in all. Those first
two kits go to William Carter (1660).
Kit # 39347 is in Haplogroup 15, R1b1c
Kit # 110505 is in Rb1-99, R1b1a2
I see kit #39347 has William Carter (1641). He is the father of William
Carter (1660).
I have not seen a tree for #110505.
Are kits 15223 and 30226 Correct? I don't know. Are kits 39347 and 110505
incorrect? I don't know.
Why they are in different Groups?
A paper trail is only so good. At times, the paper trail just runs out.
Then
there are times it pops up when least expected. I have been having trouble
finding William Carter (1796) in the death records of Ohio. Last entry for
him was in the 1880 US Census in Ohio at the age of 84. Darke County and
Logan County Genealogical Societies have both exhausted their resources
for
him as well as his wife. Both societies have said there is a possibility
their deaths were never recorded as this happens quite a bit in various
areas. My paper trail ends there in 1880, so now I am working on his
children to see if I can find any way around this problem and that of
finding the tie-in from New Jersey to Virginia.
