I wish I could learn what happened to George and Joseph's half-brother Thomas. His
daughter was born 1712 so he could have had a son born 1714 who would have been 26 years
old in 1740.

Margaret,
First of all thank you so much for looking for him in the books.
I don't know exactly when he was born, but he was in Spots county during the
late 1730-40s. I am trying to find anyone with a mention of a son named
Bailey. These order books are for sale, and before I bought them I wanted
to see if he was even in them. Now I won't purchase them. I was hoping
it would help me figure out which of William Carter/Mary Goodloe's children
Bailey descends from. He is a 65 out of 67 match with that line, and the 2
markers he is off are fast mutating markers which means it could happen
between brothers, cousins or within 1 or 2 generations. I have about 50
sources that mention Bailey and he is intermingled with Henry Carter &
Joseph Carter and their children in the sources. BUT neither Henry nor
Joseph mention a son Bailey in their probate. Very exasperating!!!! I'm
giving it one more detailed 'once over' going thru all of my sources/proofs,
paperwork (I have folders about 12" full of paper on Carters) to see if I
missed something. We know a lot more now than we did when I went thru it
all several years ago. So, I'm hoping something is there that jumps out
and grabs me.
Thanks again, kathy.

Kathy,

1724-1730 (part II - no
1724-1730 (part III - no
1724-1730 (part IV) - no
1730-1732 - no
1732-1734 - no
1734-1735 - no
1735-1738 - no
1738-1740 - no Bailey
1740-1742 - no Bailey
I looked in some of my other books and could not find him there either.
What time period did he live and where did he die?
Margaret
