Dale, I am a novice in this world of DNA, Haplog Group, etc.
I have a cousin who is now deceased that was named Dale Carter, middle name is unknown at
this time. My father, Thomas Raymond Carter and Dale’s father Ondus Arvin Carter were
brothers, the father of both was Albert Melvin Carter, born in Tuscola Ill. in 1861
d.Dec.1952. I have been unable to locate his birth record. Several years ago we traveled
in Illinois and searched in the state building of vital records. We looked through the
microfilm reader for evidence about his birth, census records for his early years. No
records were located. He came to South Central Kansas, Mound Valley with a cousin to join
him in farming. Albert later moved to Harper Kansas South west of Wichita Ks. I was
privileged to have his first letter of his first name A, and the middle name letter M, for
my name Arlys Marvin Carter. Albert married Agnes Ann McGinnis b. Jan 1868 d.Dec.1952,
may also may be spelled Mayginnes, whom he met at a box supper social in Mound Valley Ks.
Later the McGinnis brothers moved to the West Kansas Territory and established a home in
Leoti Ks. They established a farm that later paralleled the railroad system track that was
directed to the Pacific Coast. I don’t know the railroad system name. The siblings two
brothers and two sisters, remained in the area of Parsons Kansas. In the Mound Valley
Cemetery we have located other “ McGinnis” graves.
Albert’s father Thomas b. Aug.1 1805 d, June 19 1895, and mother, Urina Pickard, b.
Sept.30, 1804 d. Jan.2, 1880
I believe that I should also share with you the Mayginnes, McGinnis parentage. Agnes’s
father was Ahimaaz Mayginnes b. Dec.1846, I recognize that some dates are not listed.
At this
time of night, I don’t have some of my info. at my elbow. Forgive me!
I hope this brief information is acceptable and can be useful.
