If you have any questions about the use of DNA testing and interpretation of results
please feel free to ask.
First of all... a 12 marker test merely affirms your haplogroup and will immediately tell
you who you are NOT related to in your Y-DNA study. For instance, if your family is
haplogroup I1 (eye one) you cannot be possibly related to anyone who is not haplogroup I1
so you can eliminate any of those families in your research focus. You cannot really
assign someone to a lineage until you have at least a 25 marker match. I sometimes will
add a 12 marker test to a lineage group if the family researcher provides proof of
lineage. Otherwise, I put them in what I call a possible grouping....
I made the front page in our recent newsletter <fellow with the white beard> There
is also a link on the page to my information called Genealogy & Genetics.
