Go up to the top of the Test Results page, and you'll see a dropdown menu
for the various groups. Go to your group's individual page, and you'll find
the numerical results.
Don't feel bad. I had to look twice too!

Vickie
I looked at the new re-grouping and the numerical results of each
individual are no longer showing. I think this is important. I was always
looking at the list of other's numbers for someone matching closely in our
group. Am I not looking in the right place? If it is no longer showing,
is this something you will be adding? I think it's very important to
include. Thanks again -

Hi Vickie-
We are still all searching for that one elusive common ancestor in Group
15. Everyone in our group has been in contact. We seem to be stuck around
the late 1700, early 1800's and having a problem moving back to an earlier
ancestor. I have a known common ancestor with one member in our group and
we decided to test to verify that connection (which proved true). From
there we have met and conversed with all members of the group. Thank you
for the opportunity to meet these wonderful people.
Grouping by Haplogroups would expand our group and possibly find other
connections. I think that would be an excellent idea.
Thanks again for being there for us,
Pam

Buford, thanks for sending this information on the 12/12 match.
Just a quick success story. We had been looking for the parents of my
greatgrandpa for many years. I met Jerry #50660 (group 3) about 3 years ago
on the internet. I am kit #60501, group 3. He had an uncle listed in his
family and we felt this was very likely who I was looking for. After many
emails, and further searches, we were about 99% sure that this uncle would
be my 3rd grandpa. My brother did the DNA testing and we are a match. Thru
census records, migration patterns, etc., we were pretty sure we were in the
right family and the DNA concluded that for us.
I believe Jerry is in contact with the others in group 3 to find
connections.
Sandra Van Wyk
I just wanted to let the participants in Haplogroup Q know that I just
ordered an upgrade to my cousin's previous 25 marker test (kit 68902, Thornton
Carter).
Because kit 97672 provided our group with its first 37 marker test results,
I thought that it might be important to expand the comparison between our two
kits. It's only $49.00 to upgrade, and the information that this may
provide could possibly be important to all of us.
I'm hoping that some of the others in our group will decide to do the same!
I think that this is all very exciting while also being great fun. I'm
enjoying the email connections, especially with those in Group Q.

You are grouping by haplogroup. How about putting the 12 markers at the
bottom of that specific haplogroup. Then when the person upgrades, you can
move him up.

Vickie,
Maybe you could group by the first 12 markers then add the numbers as the 25
etc. come in with out regrouping. Researchers can compaire the numbers from
there. It is helpful to see close matches listed together.

They are able to give you the additional results from the same swab and it

I had this in tabular format, but I think the forum does not accept rtf.
Group 3 & 4 have been swapped on the test result page. With further testing of any participant it is possible that I will have to rearrange groups and/or test results. For now the best way to find yourself is to go the main results page at http://www.carter-cousins.org/results/ and use the find function to find which group you are in. Change can be painful but I do hope the end results make better sense.
Vickie
Hello Vickie and Group,
First... Thank You, Vickie for all your help and hard work. Understanding the numbers isn't easy, by any means, but we're trying... yes, Wikipedia is a very good resource for learning about this!
I am from one of the "lone wolf" Carters who seems to be one number off from the rest in his group. We are Haplogroup I, Group 7, Kit 81178. If you could please type in "Wesley D. Carter" for "Earliest Ancestor" and "Bet. 1804 - 1812 in South Carolina" in the "Dates and Places" that may be a big help to someone searching for us directly from the Test Results page. When our kit number link is clicked on, it does go to our Family Tree information. (Just looking for all the help we can get!)
Wesley D. Carter migrated from SC to AL to FL (and back and forth from FL to AL many times before he passed away in 1888.) The matches in our group all seem to be from the Carters who settled "up North" so perhaps Wesley really was a lone wolf (of sorts,) when he and/or ancestors decided to venture South... I know we'll all find out more as time goes on, and more folks participate in the DNA testing.
Thank you all so much! --Anita

You do not have to submit another sample. They will do nay available test on
the DNA they already have.

Hey, everyone!
First of all, thank you to Vickie who has worked so hard to reorganize the
website. You've done a wonderful job.
I have a few questions, but first have to admit that I need some serious
instruction about what these haplotypes mean! This leads me to my first
question...
How is it that a person can share the same haplotype, to the point where
they are put into the same group, but don't have any matches? Does it simply
mean that they are a more distant cousin, or just that they are descended from
someone who is way out of that group's loop? If it's the latter, then how
did they manage to end up with the same haplotype in the first place? (I'm in
Group Q, by the way...)
Secondly, I have pursued leads in the past for both Thomas Carter in Group
Q, and Captain Thomas Carter in Group R1b. It seems that these two families
aren't closely related since they're in different haplotype groups, but my
ancestor appears to have had close connections with Group R1b, given their
migratory patterns.
Some of the numbers match between these two separate haplotype groups. Does
this mean that they ARE actually related?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but my head is swimming! Thanks to anyone
who can help enlighten me. I'm the one who has to explain all of this to
other cousins who are expecting me to actually understand what it is that I'm
telling them...
Carolyn

Vicki,
My I add my big THANK YOU for all your work and dedication.
In haplogrup I ..As I read the numbers group 2 and group 4 match up ok. Why are they separate groups?

Our line (Kit No. 72827, Descendants of John Carter & Loyd Carter) is now
in:
Haplogroup R1b and Subclades - No Matches
I don't understand the "No Matches" part because there are 12/12 matches
indicated for:
N10507
N12790
and ours
72827 - John Carter & Loyd Carter
98347 - No information from this person yet
Could you help me to understand this a little better?
Thanks so much,
Carol J. Bowman
Descendant of:
John Carter NC
Loyd Carter 1821 - Obion Co., TN to Clinton, Hickman Co., KY
Emma Frances Carter Fowler 1872 - Clinton, Hickman Co., KY to Sikeston,
Scott Co., MO
Ila Fowler Bowman 1894, Clinton Hickman Co., KY to Sikeston, Scott Co., MO
Eugene Fowler Bowman 1917, Sikeston, Scott Co., MO to Wichita Falls, Wichita
Co., TX - (my father)
