Hi from Toronto
Saw your posting re Carswell. If your ancestry is from Texas and has been
there awhile, you might be descended from Alexander Carswell and Isabella
Brown who trace their ancestors back to the Carswells of Georgia. In the
1970s there was a big push on to find Carswell ancestors in the USA. The
late E.W. Carswell of Chipley, Florida put out the Carswell Chronicles.
There was also a big promotion of the book of Alexander Carswell and
Isabella Brown, a copy of which I have in storage right now along with
copies most of the chronicles. A number of U.S. Libraries and the LDS will
have copies of both items.
My Carswell ancestral line left Scotland in 1878 when my Great Grandfather,
Rev. James Carswell M.A., became pastor of a church in Newcastle-upon-Tyne,
England. Returning to Scotland shortly after 1890 his son came to Canada in
1908. Here is one to think about..My great grandfather was born in Scotland
but lived most of his life in England, his son was born in England but lived
most of his life in Scotland and Canada, my father was born in Canada but
spent 5 years of the war and was married in England and I was born in
England but spent most of my life in Canada. Thank heavens for good
genealogical information.

He is the son of Earl Wood Carswell and Lyla Venita Carswell of Lufkin,
Texas. My father-in-law is deceased. My husband has three brothers, David
Earl, Johnny Lee, Robert Edwin and one sister Patricia Ann. I don't know if
we are family or not and I happened to stumble upon this site looking for
info on my own family.
