Hello John,
I wish I could participate as I know the value of DNA testing from my
experience with the "Cotgreave DNA Project"
John CARSWELL and Isabella BLYTH from Fife, Scotland are my 3x great
grandparent. I have been in touch with a few of the descendants, but all on
a female line, have not yet found a living Male :-(
I will keep looking and hope to find one to participate in your project. I
do hope you get some more participants for this worthwhile project :-)
You can view my entire family (14,000+) including the CARSWELL's (45) at
Rootsweb world connect site where I have posted a Gedcom for viewing. Go to;
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=bilcot
Either select "C" or type in CARSWELL for a search. You can run
several different reports after you select a person including a pedigree one
which I like to view. I have standardized the spelling to Carswell for ease
of working with my database.
Do you see a connection to anyone?
Kind regards,
Bill Cotgreave

Subject: [CARSWELL] Carswell DNA Study Group
Hello Carswell List,
Late last year a Carswell DNA Study Group was
formed with the aims of :-
1.Identifying the different family
groups originating from different areas of the globe.
2.To confirm relationships between
families.
3. Identify previously unknown
relationships .
4. Contribute to the study of
British & Irish Clan History.
Currently we have the results for two lines, with
a third result coming in the near future. The results can be accessed at
the website
http://www.ftdna.com/(m0dayhmkmxxhtkzanb5ury3i)/public/carswell/index.asp...
These results are from Carswells originating in the Neilston area of
Renfrewshire Scotland.
It would be of great interest to many to know the
history of the various Carswell families of the world & where their
connections lie .Does your family connect with the Carswells of Argyll,
Renfrewshire ,Fife, Dumfries in Scotland or County Down in Ireland or
Devon in England or else where Do we all originally come from the same
area?.Who is related to John Carswell Bishop of Argyll & the Isles in 1560
or to Alexander Carswell & Isabella Brown who sailed to the USA from
Belfast in 1773? .
If you would like to participate in the group study
or require further information (eg FAQ) on DNA testing please visit the
website
www.ftdna.com or contact the group administrator Ian Carswell
whose email address is found on the site
http://www.ftdna.com/(m0dayhmkmxxhtkzanb5ury3i)/public/carswell/index.asp...
Discounted prices are available through Family Study groups.
Kind Regards, John Carswell ,Australia.
