Ancestry has made it difficult to access old Rootsweb posts. Anyone have the secret on
how to search these efficiently?
Assuming not, it may be worthwhile to repost some basic resources. For the John Carson -
Anne Dixon line that includes the Dobbins Bible -
http://www.tngenweb.org/sumner/brdoba.htm
One difference it brings up from the previous post is the fate of Elizabeth Carson.
Dobbins and the Quaker records suggest she married James Patterson 2 December 1763 in
Bedford County VA. The same Quaker records show James married Martha Boyd 24 April 1770
in Bedford County VA. It raises the assumption that Elizabeth Carson had died. It also
raises the question about whether the Carsons were Quakers or was it James Patterson.

Thanks for the reply. It raises several questions.
* Was the Nancy Carson, subject of the 1753 ad, this Nancy Carson. John Carson first
appears in Bedford County VA in a 1754 order to build a road, so it's possible. But,
what were they doing in Easton PA? Had they already left?
* Why did grandsons Samuel & Robert Carson get mention in John Dixon's 1781 will,
but nothing from their purported father in 1762? Not because of age as
"Revolutionary Tommy" Carson was only 2 when that will was drawn, but received a
substantial bequest.
* What other children had John Dixon other than Anne & Christopher?

Here are some of my notes on Nancy Dixon Carson.
Nancy Carson was probably Anne Dixon, wife of John Carson. The first name Anne was a short
version of Nancy in that era. Nancy which was a nickname for Agnes originally.

Subject: [CARSON] 1753 ad for Nancy Dixon married to ? Carson
A September 27, 1753 ad in a Philadelphia paper -:
This is to give notice to Nancy Carson, now living in the Forks of Delaware [Easton,
PA], that her brother Christopher Dixon, died on ship-board, coming from Holland, and has
by a will, left her several goods, and some money, now in the hands of Capt. George
Parish: She is therefore desired to come to Philadelphia forthwith, to Thomas Lawrence,
Esq., who has the will in his hands.
Anyone know who Nancy's husband was, and where the couple ended up?
